The UV Index measures the strength of the sun's ultraviolet rays. The higher the number, the more protection your skin needs.

0–2 LowMinimal danger. Sunscreen is still a good daily habit.
3–5 ModerateSunscreen and a hat. Seek shade near midday.
6–7 HighSunscreen, hat, sunglasses, and shade.
8–10 Very HighCover up. Limit outdoor time between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
11+ ExtremeStay indoors when possible. Florida regularly reaches this range in summer.
